Sinauli, is not only a name symbolises in an Indian map but also has gathered the secret and the glory of an Indian culture which was flourishing parallel to Harappan civilisation.
Sinauli is an archealogical site located at
Baghpat district in Up. It is 67-70 km far away from Delhi situated at
Ganga yamuna doab.Recently, it was in news due to its documentory made by
Discovery Plus and the whole documentory was narrated by legend actor Mr.
Manoj Vajpayee.Let's explore the secrets of Sinauli and try to know its significance in the whole Indian excavation till now. Sinauli came into fame when in 2005-2006,first time excavation was done in Sinauli where total 116 burial places were found and it was named as the largest burial archealogical site in South Asia. Later, In 2013 farmers while ploughing their field they found many copper materials and so many things which were unique in themselves and this news went to Indian govt. and to Archealogical Survey Of India. ASI started excavating Sinauli sites just 100m away from 2005 excavated sites.
In the early excavation ,it was inferred that it was a part of Harappan Culture or of Vedic culture but the artifacts findings depicted that it was an epic isolated culture which was flourishing parallel to Harappan Civilisation. As we know Harappan civilisation was a developed culture, significant artifacts were there in that culture also but the findings in Sinauli were precisely surprising. There were fine designing on the excavated materials it seems that it has been designed by machines. So finally it was concluded that Sinauli is a unique archealogical site totally different from Harappan Civilisation.
The major excavated findings of Sinauli are Ochre Coloured pottery, wooden coffins,Helmets, terracotta figurimes, gold bracelets, copper bangles, steatite, three full sized chariots, a plethora of antenna swords, necklace etc.
Due to findings of antenna swords and shield it is believed that they were not mere a simple human there were warriors.
Earlier excavated antenna swords were without hilt but later excavation proved that they were warriors. There were rituals of cemetry for men and women separately.During their cremation all belongings were kept near them. Rituals performed illustrates the reflection of vedic rituals.
Excavation revealed that women were rich too. When they died she was cremated with fascinating jewellery too.It was also concluded that both men and women were warriors because men's shield were designed with copper and women's shield with stetite.
Findings of 3 well artifacts chariots conclude that this culture is one of the oldest culture whose designings are still far better than Mesopotamian and Sumerian civilisation. There are still more secrets have to be uncovered from Sinauli archealogical sites.Still we are waiting for the bright and glory of Sinauli.
